SDGs & ESGs
Since our founding as Perfectly Pitched, we’ve kept a keen focus on our contributions to both the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and our responsibilities toward Environmental, Social, and Governance standards. We take corporate social responsibility very seriously and believe it’s imperative that we operate ethically, consciously, and responsibly.
Since day one, we’ve actively partnered with like-minded organizations throughout the startup ecosystem that work to support social entrepreneurs, minority founders, and environmentally conscious organizations. For instance, our founding partnership was with the Halcyon Incubator’s Opportunity Intensive program, supporting founders from or serving DC’s Opportunity Zones. Most recently we partnered with the University of Maryland’s IMET REEF program, supporting graduate students learning to apply their environmental studies into actionable & innovative businesses that focus on key environmental issues. We made it a core of our company’s foundation that we also offer discounts to underrepresented founders, in order to help level the playing field in venture capital.
Our Founder, Heather Lawver, stands firm in the belief that a company’s culture doesn’t begin with the first hire; rather, that culture is born in how the founder treats themselves. That takes on added meaning as a disabled founder who has often struggled to find the accommodations she needed in order to contribute her talents to the world. To that end, a key pillar of our ESG policies is to support every team member’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being, with flexible work hours, an open policy on accommodations, and a foundational belief in remote work. Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to contribute positively to our society and earn a living, regardless of any disabilities they may have. As firm subscribers to the social model of disability, we believe it’s inherent upon us as a company, and as a society, to meet each person with empathy, accessibility, and support, so that everyone can shine.
Last, but not least, throughout the lifespan of our company we’ve proudly supported 501c3 non-profits with donated services, as well as donating a portion of our revenue to select charitable causes. We’ve provided extensive services and/or donations for IssueVoter.org, The National Disability Institute, The Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, Deviant Society, TransLifeline, StartOut, various women’s shelters, animal rescue organizations, and humanitarian relief for Ukraine. We’re proud to continue & expand this tradition as we grow.
